With development of new materials and technologies, the market is looking forward to more usage of power semiconductors in automobile industry, especially on electronic vehicles. It could be a challenge for traditional car brands due to significant cost differences between combustion engines and hybrid/electric propulsion systems. However, Dr. Peter Friedrichs, the Vice President SiC at Infineon, is very excited about new applications and possibilities of power semiconductors. Dr. Friedrichs’ focus area of expertise was the physics of the MOS interface in SiC power MOSFETs. He holds numerous patents in the field of SiC power devices and technology and is an author or co/author of more than 50 scientific papers and conference contributions.
