Shanghai-based SSD technology company VEIGLO (威固信息) introduced last year the first domestically invented and produced single-chip SSD in China that integrates storage and calculation simultaneously. This achievement earned the company "The Best Technology Breakthrough of the Year Award" from China Semiconductor Investment Alliance (CSIA) and JW Insights last December.

Wu Jia, VEIGLO Chairman, said in an interview with JW Insights, “Wehavepersisted in self-developing of technology since our start, going to the core fields. We believe in the faster growth of our business which will go up as the country becomes stronger.”

The SCSSD in its SC10 series integrates the S101 master chip it invented and domestically-produced NAND Flash particles. With capacities varying from 256GB, 512GB to 1TB, it has a read-and-write rate of up to 500MB/s or more.

Founded in 2013, VEIGLO offers data storage solutions with both hardware and software. The company runs its own packaging and testing facility in Huzhou in eastern China’s Zhejiang Province. Wu Jia said that VEIGLO had mastered its core SiP packaging technology in single-chip SSD products. These have supported well VEIGLO in its capabilities in system design, substrate design and simulation, system-level signal integrity analysis, power integrity, and thermal power analysis, Wu added.

“Geopolitical changes in recent years drive strong demand for our products,” Wu Jia said. Lots of IC companies benefit from the trend of domestic substitutes in China. VEIGLO will need to figure out demands from different markets. It will launch smarter, faster, and multi-functional SSD products that integrate storage and calculation simultaneously for more vertical markets and application fields.
