World-leading semiconductor foundry UMC’s 8-inch wafer fab HeJian in Suzhou, eastern China’s Jiangsu Province, has resumed work since February 24 with 2,200 employees at work, 98% attendance rate.
Gao Mingzheng, general manager of Hejian, said the employees were divided into two groups to work at two different locations.
“For logistics and freight, the company conducts closed-loop management of its own vehicles and drivers. Other logistics vehicles are managed subject to local rules. All incoming goods will be disinfected with environmental sample tested, then the company will manage the goods in a contact-free manner,” added Gao.
Hejian suspended its production activities from February 14 because of an employee was infected with Covid-19. All other employees were negative after multiple nucleic acid tests, and they resumed production immediately after receiving the notification from the authority on February 24.
Hejian mainly produces PMIC, MCU and driver IC, with an annual output of 1 million pieces.
