(JW Insights) Oct 25 -- Chinese consumer electronics giant Xiaomi will globally unveil the Xiaomi 14 series on October 26, featuring the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, the company announced.

Qualcomm’s newly unveiled mobile chipset is an on-device AI. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 brings generative AI capabilities right to the chipset, vastly speeding up the processing-intensive activities that are usually outsourced to the cloud. Xiaomi's upcoming 14 series will be the first phones to feature Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, marking a significant upgrade from its predecessor, according to media reports.

Xiaomi President Lu Weibing, the sole representative from smartphone manufacturers, delivered his speech, on October 25 at the 2023 Qualcomm Snapdragon Technology Summit in Hawaii. He showcased Xiaomi 14 series , and announced its official release date on October 26.

Xiaoping has a seven-year history of AI research and development, with a team of 3,000 members. Its language model based on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 platform is the first to be implemented on the terminal side, offering rapid response times. Its applications include knowledge Q&A, text expansion, and table generation, among others, Lu added.

"Xiaomi and Qualcomm have a long-term partnership, and the Xiaomi 14 is a demonstration of our deep collaboration with Qualcomm." He added, "This is one of the first times ever that a new platform and a new device launch together," said Lu.

Xiaomi has evolved into the world's leading consumer IoT platform company, connecting 654 million smart devices. Simultaneously, as the world's third-largest smartphone manufacturer, Xiaomi commands a 14% share of the global market.

Xiaomi’s R&D investment grew sixfold from 2017 to 2023. This year, Xiaomi's estimated R&D investment is set to exceed RMB 20 billion($2.7 billion). Xiaomi's innovative technologies currently encompass 99 product categories across 12 domains. The company will launch its first EV model next year, said Lu.
