China’s IC output declines by 1.2% in January-February, producing 57.33 billion pieces

China’s IC output was 57.33 billion pieces in January-February, falling slightly by 1.2% over the last year, according to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).

The added value of the electronics manufacturing industry of large-size companies increased by 12.7% in January-February over the previous year, 1.1 percentage points higher than the average growth rate in 2020 and 2021. The figure was 5.2 percentage points higher than the growth rate of industries’ added value, while 1.7 percentage points lower than high-tech manufacturing.

Among the main products, the mobile phone output was 210 million units, decreasing by 3.5% yearly. The output of microcomputer equipment stood at 58.564 million units, down by 3.9%.

The export shipment value of the electronics manufacturing industry reached RMB983.8 billion ($154.8 billion), up by 11.4% over the previous year. Its growth rate was 1.9 percentage points higher than in 2020 and 2021.

Data from China’s General Administration of Customs (GACC) shows that China’s IC export was 47 billion pieces in January-February, increasing by 0.5% year on year. The import hit 92 billion pieces, a year-on-year decrease of 4.6%.

The electronics manufacturing industry of large-size companies raked in an operating income of RMB2,075.6 billion ($326.5 billion), up 8.5% year on year. It was 6.8 percentage points lower than the average growth rate of the same period in 2020 and 2021. The total profit declined by 7.3% over the previous year, reaching RMB72.5 billion ($11.4 billion).
