The Indonesian court rejected all patent infringement complaints filed by Nokia against Chinese smartphone maker OPPO with Nokia bearing all the litigation costs, said Foss Patents, a well-known intellectual property blog, on July 12.

OPPO has topped the Indonesian smartphone market for many consecutive years, according to Counterpoint Research. In 2021, OPPO dominated the Indonesian market with a 21.8% share with estimated 8.9 million shipments, showed IDC’s data.

Nokia has successively launched global patent lawsuits against OPPO, vivo and other companies since June 2021. The lawsuit scale is staggering, and has been filed in more than eight countries and regions around the world with all calling for injunctions.

Litigation in other regions is ongoing, and JW Insights will keep updating the progress.
