(JW Insights) Feb 28 -- China’s integrated circuit output was 324.19 billion units in 2022, a year-on-year decrease of 9.8%, the first decline since 2009. The latest figures come from the 2022 Statistical Bulletin on National Economic and Social Development issued by China’s National Bureau of Statistics on February 28.
The bulletin also shows that the total IC imports in China in 2022 numbered 538.4 billion units, a year-on-year decrease of 15.3%. The value reached RMB2,766.3 billion ($398.80 billion), down by 0.9% from the previous year.
The total 2022 IC export volume was 273.4 billion units, a year-on-year drop of 12%. The value totaled RMB1025.4 billion ($147.83 billion), a year-on-year increase of 3.5%.
On the macro state of the industries in China, the Bulletin noted that new industries, new forms of business and new models grew rapidly. Other indicators include:
Among the industries above the designated size, the added value of high-tech manufacturing increased by 7.4% over the previous year, accounting for 15.5% of the total.
The added value of equipment manufacturing increased by 5.6%, accounting for 31.8% of the industrial added value above the designated size.
Among the service sector above designated size, the operating revenue of strategic emerging service industry enterprises increased by 4.8% over the previous year.
Investment in high-tech industries increased by 18.9% over the previous year;
The general equipment manufacturing industry fell by 1.2%, among the industries above the designated size;
Special equipment manufacturing industry grew by 3.6%;
Automobile manufacturing industry grew by 6.3%;
Electrical machinery and equipment manufacturing industry grew by 11.9%;
Computer, communications and other electronic equipment manufacturing industry grew by 7.6%.
The annual output of new energy vehicles and solar cells (photovoltaic cells) were 7.003 million and 340 million kilowatts in 2022, respectively, a year-on-year increase of 90.5% and 46.8%.
On the export side, the mobile phone export was 822.24 million units, down 13.8% over the previous year; The export amount was RMB952.7 billion ($136.7 billion), an increase of 0.9% over the previous year;
The export of LCD panel display modules is 1.64 billion, valued at RMB180.7 billion ($26.13 billion).
