South Korean memory chip giant SK Hynix is cooperating with Wuxi City in eastern China's Jiangsu Province in a China-Korea IC Industrial Park. The construction of the park started in early October.
Located in the National High-Tech District in the city, the project involves a total investment of about RMB2 billion ($310 million) and is expected to become an innovative and modern park friendly to both manufacturing activities and employees' life.
Wuxi is the 3rd largest IC industry city in China after Shanghai and Shenzhen. It is home to many other important IC companies. On January 16, 2020, SK Hynix and Wuxi National Hi-Tech District signed an investment cooperation agreement to build the IC industrial park jointly.
The park intends to become Wuxi's new center for IC developments and cover the full industry chain of design, manufacturing, packaging and testing, equipment and materials. It will attract the leading IC companies that operate successfully in the city. They include SK Hynix, Huahong Semiconductor (华虹), China Resources Microelectronics (华润微), and National Center for Advanced Packaging (华进). It aims to become a national-level IC industry model base.
