China’s technology giant Huawei opened its first 5G smart manufacturing factory in Jundiai of Brazil on March 30. The factory is equipped with AI, cloud computing, and IoT technologies, according to Huawei.

Tiago Fontes, director of ecosystem and marketing at Huawei, said, “This is an innovative project. The implementation of the network was completed in November 2021. We have already gone through more than three months of tests and we were able to prove the increase in productivity, speed, and efficiency.”

The entire production line is connected to a network through 5G and uses 5G-based applications including cameras with embedded AI technology and AR glasses.

The AI cameras are used to monitor the production process, and all production data is collected and uploaded to the cloud. This will reduce the time for quality reviews, and improve the efficiency and reliability of product testing. AR glasses can maintain machines and inform the operation center of the real-time equipment status.

The applications of AI, wireless transmission, and sensing have brought huge changes to the manufacturing industry, and data visualization is the most critical one. These data could be game-changing for companies’ production, operation, and management methods, according to Huawei.
