(JW Insights) Sep 22-- Huawei, OPPO, and ZTE ranked the top three in PCT patent applications from China, according to the Global Innovation Index (GII) released recently by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).

PCT is short for Patent Cooperation Treaty, an international treaty for patent cooperation. PCT international application is to solve the problem of multiple requests for the same invention and creation. China officially became a member of the PCT in 1994.

According to WIPO, in scientific publications, Sun Yat-sen University, South China University of Technology, and Shenzhen University were most active in China in 2022.
