AMEC, China's leading semiconductor equipment maker, started constructing its headquarter and R&D base in Shanghai's Lingang New Area in late October.

Gerald Yin, chairman & CEO of AMEC (Advanced Micro-Fabrication Equipment Inc. 中微公司), was at a ceremony to mark the occasion. After completion, the new office would integrate into one location for office, R&D, testing, and services. Yin said that the new office would facilitate AMEC to focus on developing more and better etch and thin film deposition equipment.

AMEC will expand to new fields of pan-semiconductor and micro-devices, industrial Internet platforms, and related information services, he added.  

AMEC's headquarter and R&D base covers a total area of about 25.05 acres and a planned construction area of about 105,000 square meters. It is located in  Lingang New Area in eastern Pudong of Shanghai, which has a new state-level IC industry park under development. Lingang is also part of the Shanghai Free Trade Zone.

In 2004, Gerald Yin returned to China at 60 and founded AMEC. The company has produced some outstanding processing equipment and process technology solutions for micro-device manufacturing and has been adopted by global IC and LED chipmakers.

AMEC operates in Shanghai, Nanchang, and Xiamen, Taiwan, with regional subsidiaries in Japan, South Korea, Singapore, and the United States. The company reported a 36.82% year-on-year increase of revenue RMB1.339 billion ($207 million) in the first half of 2021.
