BYD, one of China's largest EV manufacturers, announced that it sold 593,745 new energy passenger vehicles in 2021, a 231.6% jump over compared with the previous year.
Up to now, BYD has manufactured and sold more than 1.51 million new energy vehicles.
It delivered a total of 730,093 passenger cars in 2021, an increase of 75.4% compared with 2020; the sale number in December reached 97,990, a 77.9% year-on-year increase.
Among them, the sales of pure electric vehicles were 320,810 and the sales of hybrid vehicles were 272,935. It delivered 92,823 electric vehicles in December, a year-on-year increase of 236.4%.
In terms of specific models, BYD Han, a mid-size luxury sedan, sold a total of 117,665 units in 2021, the number reached 13,701 in December, an increase of 20.6% from the previous month. The BYD Tang, a crossover SUV, sold 54,204 units, BYD Song, a series of compact Crossover Utility vehicles, sold 200870 units in 2021. The sale number of BYD Qin, a compact sedan, in 2021 reached 194,220, of which 25,943 were sold in December. Sales of BYD Yuan, a subcompact crossover SUV, were 41402, increased by 707.6%. In addition, 38,350 units of the BYD e-series were sold and 4,160 units were sold in December.
For the newly launched electric subcompact hatchback BYD Dolphin series, a total of 29,598 units were sold from August to December 2021, and 10,016 units were sold in December alone, an increase of 13.7% from the previous month.
BYD is accelerating to make its car more intelligent. On December 23, 2021, BYD and RoboSense(速腾聚创), a leading provider of smart LiDAR sensor systems, signed to upgrade their partnership and push BYD’s global mass production of smart vehicles. BYD will use RoboSense's LiDAR hardware, intelligent sensing software, and chips, industry source indicated.
