China’s semiconductor wafer producer CCMC (中欣晶圆半导体) established a school for semiconductor workers in Lishui of eastern China’s Zhejiang Province on February 22 with a local partner. It is the first such technical college in China, announced CCMC.
The school - “CCMC Semiconductor Workers’ School” is located in Lishui’s Economic Development Zone and well-established Lishui Technician College is CCMC’s partner in this project.

Li Li, director of the Intelligent Manufacturing Department of the College, and CCMC’s deputy general manager Tang Liming were appointed as the deans of the new school.
Two classes on Wafer Production Process and Power Guarantee will be offered this semester for 50 students. The school plans to set up five subject classes related to the semiconductor fields in the next three years to enroll over 1,200 full-time students and give another 1,200 on-the-job training.
Both parties will use the school as a platform to teach students professional knowledge, jointly foster talents that meet demands from the market and research fields.
Founded in 2017 and based in Hangzhou, CCMC is one of the largest wafer producers in China. Last November its 8-inch and 12-inch epitaxy project with a total investment of RMB4 billion ($633.1 million) was officially launched in Lishui and will start production in November 2022.
