China’s leading foundry SMIC appoints Gao Yonggang as chairman of the Board; Zhou Zixue resigns as executive director

SMIC announced to appoint Gao Yonggang(高永岗) as the chairman of the Board on March 17. Executive director Zhou Zixue(周子学) resigned due to health reasons and holds no longer any position at SMIC.

Gao Yonggang, 57, was appointed as the acting chairman of SMIC on September 3, 2021. He became a non-executive director in 2009 and was re-designated as an executive director on June 17, 2013. He has been the Chief Financial Officer of SMIC since February 17, 2014. Gao also serves as a director or chairman of some subsidiaries and affiliated companies of SMIC, according to the announcement.

Gao holds a Ph.D. in management from Nankai University. He is currently a standing committee member of the Accounting Society of China, a member of the Stock Listing Committee of Shanghai Stock Exchange Science and Technology Innovation Board, a founding director of the Hong Kong Independent Non-Executive Director Association, and a vice president of the China Federation of Electronics and Information Industry.

Gao has more than 30 years of experience in corporate management and has served as the chief person in charge of finance or corporate in many companies or organizations. He has rich experience and in-depth research in financial management, investment, and financing.

Gao served as the chief accountant of the Institute of China Academy of Telecommunications Technology and the chairman of Datang Telecom Group Finance Co., Ltd. He is currently a director of JCET Group and an independent director of iRay Technology Company Limited.

SMIC also announced the appointment of Zhao Haijun, an executive director, to replace Zhou Zixue as one of the authorized representatives of the company.
