China’s Xidian University establishes the Academy of Integrated Circuits

Xidian University, one of China’s oldest electronics universities in Xi’an in western China’s Shaanxi Province staged a ceremony for its establishment of the Academy of Integrated Circuits on April 12, according to its official news.

Zhu Zhangming, head of the Academy of Integrated Circuits, said, “The Academy will target cultivating high-level IC talents in the industry to develop bottleneck technologies and contribute to China's IC development. ”

Hao Yue, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, said that the establishment of the Academy is an important step for Xidian and even for China’s IC industry. He put forward his suggestions to make a stronger IC industry at the ceremony to strengthen basic research, partner with electronics regions and excellent enterprises, and explore scientific systems.

Xidian University was first established in 1931 in Jiangxi, moved to Yan’an, and settled down in Xi’an after 1949. It is one of the first universities in China to establish majors in electronics, information theory, information system engineering, radar, microwave antenna, electronic machinery, and electronic countermeasures.

According to Xidian University, academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences Huang Ru and Liu Ming, and academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering Wu Hanming and Zheng Nanning, sent their congratulations respectively, and highly recognized Xidian’s achievements in the IC industry.
