The July mobile phones shipments in the Chinese market go down 30.6% to 19.91 million units

The Chinese market shipped 19.91 million mobile phones in July, a year-on-year decrease of 30.6%;  73.7% of the shipments were 5G mobile phones numbering at 14.672 million, a year-on-year decrease of 35.7%, according to the data from the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT) on September 13.

The CAICT data shows that the mobile phone shipments in the Chinese market from January to July totaled 156 million units, a year-on-year decrease of 23.0%, among which 79.3% were 5G mobile phones numbering 124 million units, a year-on-year decline of 17.7%.

In July 2022, twenty-two new mobile phone models were launched in China, a year-on-year decrease of 15.4%, of which nine were 5G mobile phones, a year-on-year decline of 18.2%. 

From January to July, 223 new models were launched, a year-on-year decrease of 6.7%, of which 121 were 5G mobile phones.

In July 2022, Chinese brand mobile phone shipments were 18.281 million units, accounting for 91.8% of all and a year-on-year decrease of 29.4%. Eighteen new models were launched, a year-on-year decrease of 25.0%, accounting for 81.8% of the number of new models.

From January to July, Chinese brand mobile phone shipments totaled 133 million units, accounting for 85.5% in the market and a year-on-year decrease of 26.4%; A total of 210 new models were launched, accounting for 94.2% in the market and a year-on-year reduction of 3.7%.
