China’s smart home device touch-screen control shipments in the first half of 2022 reached 300,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 160.7%, according to a report released on September 28 by market research firm IDC.
IDC predicts that China’s smart home control screen shipments in 2022 will exceed 650,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 106.4%, and the compound annual growth rate of shipments in the next five years will exceed 60%.
IDC pointed out that in the first half of 2022, the market share of smart home control screens above 4 inches has increased significantly, of which 7-10 inches are the key driver of growth.
On the one hand, smart home device users’ increasing demands for interactive control and decoration have promoted the development of large central control screens; The entry of tech giants in this area has also promoted the upgrading and innovation of central control screens.
Meanwhile, the entry-level screen market below 4 inches is also attracting the attention of more manufacturers. The small size promotes the central control screen to a broader market.
With the participation of Chinese tech giants in the central control screen market, they value their collaborative integration capabilities in home connection, interaction, and computing power, tapping their huge potential in the smart home market. In the future, under the joint promotion of market demand and manufacturer strategies, the smart home control screen will develop in the direction of integration and lightweight and gradually become a control center in the era of intelligent perception houses.
