(JW Insights) Feb 9 -- Chinese IT provider HopeRun Software (润和软件)’s new financial services operating system, which is based on Huawei Technology’s OpenHarmony OS, received compliance certification from Chinese authorities, reported Yicai Global on February 6.

The firm’s HiHopeOS passed the tests of the Innovation Ecology Lab for Financial Information Technology, becoming the first Chinese OS to meet the lab’s requirements and paving the way for it to be installed in devices such as smart point of sales machines, the company said on February 5.

The lab was established in 2020 and backed by the People’s Bank of China (PBC). The certification will help HopeRun develop software products and solutions for the financial industry, the Nanjing-based firm added, noting that it will continue to work with Huawei to promote product and application innovations and help the financial sector achieve the Internet of Everything, said the Yicai report.

OpenHarmony is an open-source version of the HarmonyOS independently developed by Chinese telecoms giant Huawei and donated to the OpenAtom Foundation, an independent non-profit organization set up in June 2020 by Huawei and other Chinese tech giants, reported Yicai.

Founded in 2006 and listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange in 2012, HopeRun Software provides clients worldwide with software products, solutions, and services.
