(JW Insights) Apr 10 -- Japanese display solution provider JDI (Japan Display Inc.) announced signing a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Chinese HKC. They will cooperate in next-generation OLED technology and fabs, global innovation and industrialization centers, and high-end automotive display business, reported JW Insights.
JDI said its eLEAP and HMO technologies had simplified front-end and backplane manufacturing and reduced costs. Shenzhen-based HKC has a vast display business in China. Since 2017, its G8.6 display fabs in multiple Chinese cities have been put into mass production. Both of their performance can be significantly increased through cooperation.
It was reported that the two companies will jointly plan and build fabs using JDI's eLEAP OLED technology, targeting mass production in 2025.
JDI CEO Scott Callon said at a briefing that the company plans to build more than one factory with HKC to combine its technology with HKC’s cost competitiveness, said a Nikkei Asia report.
Founded in 2001 in China’s southern Guangdong Province, HKC provides display semiconductor solutions.
