(JW Insights) Apr 17 -- Chinese smartphones made up more than 70% of the Russian market in the first quarter of 2023, up from around 50% last year, said Russia’s leading consumer electronics retailer M.Video-Eldorado.

Apple and Samsung have dropped to third and fourth spot, respectively, from first and third in 2022.

The popularity of Chinese smartphone brands in Russia far exceeded that of Apple and Samsung, said the Russian media Kommersant quoting data from MTS in 2022.

The data showed that last July, sales of Chinese brand Xiaomi and its sub-brand POCO accounted for 42% of the Russian smartphone market last July, ranking first. Another Chinese brand Realme ranked second with a 17% market share in Russia in July 2022.
