(JW Insights) Jun 13 - GalaxyCore(格科微), a leading image sensor vendor in China, announced on June 12 completing the installation and debugging of its initial batch of equipment for its CMOS Image Sensor (CIS) wafer production line. It has produced qualified products with yields meeting expectations and has passed long-term reliability testing, achieving conditions for mass production.
With more equipment being installed and put into operation, the capacity will be gradually increased, ultimately reaching 20,000 wafers a month.
The newly added capacity from the project is primarily for mid-to-high-end CIS products, complementing and enhancing the existing product line. The company’s high-pixel single-chip integration technology and high-performance product design enable it to effectively utilize the new production capacity.
Currently, GalaxyCore’s 13 million and 32 million pixel CMOS image sensor products have been validated by some customers. It also plans to introduce higher pixel specification products, such as 50 million, 64 million, and 108 million, based on its high-pixel single-chip integration technology, according to the company.
This project also contributes to the integration of resources in GalaxyCore’s chip design and manufacturing, enhancing the company’s design and process capabilities in the field of back-illuminated image sensors, said GalaxyCore.
Founded in 2003 and based in Shanghai, GalaxyCore is a major player in CMOS image sensor and display driver IC in China. Its products are widely used in global mobile devices and other electronic products.
