(JW Insights) Aug 15 -- China's tablet PC shipments decreased 6.6% year on year to about 6.77 million units in the second quarter of 2023, said data from IDC.

Apple still ranked first with a 35.9% market share, followed by Huawei and Xiaomi with 20.5% and 10.9%. Honor, Lenovo, Vivo, and OPPO ranked fourth to seventh, respectively, during the period.

The average price of China's tablet PC market fell by 1.7% to RMB2,881 ($396.65). The main price range was from RMB2,000 ($275.35) to RMB4,000 ($550.71), while the market share of those below RMB1,000 ($137.68) increased.

The consumer market decreased by 7.2% year-on-year, and the commercial market increased by 0.6% year-on-year, showing a rebound, said IDC.

The commercial market shipments have achieved the first year-on-year growth since the third quarter of 2021. The increase in commercial exchanges after the pandemic and tablet replacement needs in enterprises have resulted in commercial market demand. The gradual implementation of national policy procurement has pushed the recovery of the commercial market in the second quarter.

At the same time, the rapid evolution of AI technology has also catalyzed the recovery and growth of the segmented commercial market, according to market researchers.
