Chinese telecoms equipment provider ZTE ranks fourth globally in 5G standard essential patents families

(JW Insights) Aug 25 -- ZTE, China’s leading telecoms equipment maker, ranked the 4th globally with its 5G standard essential patent (SEPs) families number, the company recently disclosed in a related 2023 semi-annual report.

As of June 30, 2023, the group had approximately 86,500 global patent applications and a cumulative total of around 44,000 authorized patents worldwide. The company consistently discloses its 5G SEPs to the European Telecommunications Standards Institute(ETSI), according to ZTE.

ZTE Corporation allocated RMB12.79 billion($1.75 billion) to R&D in the first half of the year, accounting for 21.1% of its operating revenue. By comprehensively enhancing its infrastructure product and solution capabilities, the company effectively boosted competitiveness across various business domains.

From January to June 2023, ZTE Corporation achieved an operating revenue of RMB60.70 billion($8.3 billion), a year-on-year increase of 1.5%.

ZTE's net profit attributable to the parent company reached RMB5.47 billion($750 million), with a year-on-year growth of 19.9%. Non-recurring net profit attributable to the parent company was RMB4.91 billion($673 million), representing a year-on-year increase of 31.8%.

Basic earnings per share were RMB1.15($0.158). The net amount of operating cash flow reached RMB6.43 billion($882 million), marking an 83.6% year-on-year increase, the company announced.
