Chinese analog IC foundry GTA Semiconductor secures RMB13.5 billion($1.8 billion) in latest financing round

(JW Insights) Sep 4 -- GTA Semiconductor(积塔半导体), a leading analog chips manufacturer based in Shanghai, raised RMB13.5 billion($1.8 billion) in its latest funding round, a VC announced on September 4.

Several national funds, industrial investors, local funds, and prominent financial investors participated in this financing.

GTA Semiconductor was founded in 2017, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Huada Semiconductor. The latter was a subsidiary of CEC (China Electronic Corporation ), one of China's top 10 integrated circuit design companies.

GTA Semiconductor is a specialized integrated circuit chip manufacturer focusing on analog circuits and power devices. The company produces a wide range of chips, including BCD, IGBT/FRD, SGT/MOSFET, TVS, and SiC devices, which are extensively used in high-end applications such as automotive electronics, industrial control, power management, and smart devices, as well as applications in rail transportation and smart grids. 

The company has certifications for quality, environmental management, and information security systems, including ISO 9001, VDA 6.3 (Grade A), IATF 16949, ISO 14001, and ISO/IEC 27001. It is one of China’s earliest manufacturers of automotive electronic chips and IGBT chips.

GTA Semiconductor currently has a combined production capacity of 280,000 wafers per month (equivalent to 8-inch wafers), including 70,000 6-inch wafers per month, 110,000 8-inch wafers, 50,000 12-inch wafers, and 30,000 silicon carbide wafers per month. It provides core chips such as microcontrollers, analog circuits, power devices, and sensors to the automotive electronics, industrial control, and high-end consumer electronics sectors.
