China International Industry Fair sets up special zone for robots

(JW Insights) Sep 20 -- This year's China International Industry Fair (CIIF), which kicked off in Shanghai on September 19, features a special exhibition area for robots spanning more than 50,000 square meters, reported China Daily.

This year's CIIF, which occupies 300,000 sq m of exhibition space, features a wide range of industrial products like basic materials, components, machines, equipment, and integrated solutions.

The robot density of Shanghai's manufacturing enterprises above designated size - or those with an annual revenue of RMB20 million($2.74 million) or above – currently stands at 260 robots per 10,000 persons, according to Wu Jincheng, director of Shanghai Commission of Economy and Informatization.

The city is currently home to three national benchmark smart factories, eight national-level demonstration intelligent factories, and 100 city-level smart plants, Wu added, according to the China Daily report.
