(JW Insights) Sep 26 -- HarmonyOS 4, the operating system developed by Chinese telecom giant Huawei, now has more than 60 million users, Richard Yu, Huawei's Executive Director, CEO of Consumer Business Group announced on September 25.

"Just a few days ago, HarmonyOS 4 had about 50 million users, and the figure has now surpassed 60 million, with about 1.2 million new users added every day, making it the fastest-upgraded HarmonyOS version in history." Richard Yu said during a product launch event held in Shenzhen, south China's Guangdong Province on September 25.

During the conference, Yu also announced the full-scale launch of Harmony OS NEXT, the native applications of HarmonyOS. “The next version of HarmonyOS will bring a revolutionary experience, marking a new chapter in the mobile application ecosystem,” stated Yu.

HarmonyOS, or Hongmeng in Chinese, is an open-source operating system designed for various devices and scenarios, including intelligent screens, tablets, wearables and cars. It was first launched in August 2019.

Huawei has trained millions of HarmonyOS talents, with over 1.7 million individuals participating in online HarmonyOS Academy courses and offline events just this year. During the previous Huawei Developer Conference 2023 event, Huawei also unveiled the HarmonyOS Ecosystem Partner Development Program, pledging to invest billions of RMB over the next three years to support partner development, covering a wide range of applications in 18 domains, including social, multimedia, gaming, news, finance, and more, according to the company.
