(JW Insights) Oct 27 -- Chinese smartphone giant Xiaomi has unveiled its new operating system HyperOS, which is set to shift the focus of the company’s ecosystem to connecting handsets, cars, and smart home appliances to enhance the interactive experience, reported Yicai Global on October 27.

HyperOS will first apply on the Xiaomi 14, the Beijing-based company’s latest flagship smartphone series, which was also unveiled on October 26.

HyperOS is based on Android’s open-source and Xiaomi’s Internet-of-things platforms. However, the firm has not yet disclosed the proportion of its self-developed codes in the operating system.

HyperOS is a crucial step forward in Xiaomi’s strategic focus on the ‘human-car-home ecosystem,’ according to a research report by Guosheng Securities. Xiaomi’s electric vehicles will also help the company realize its interconnectivity objective by installing HyperOS in the cars’ smart cockpit, Guosheng Securities noted.

Xiaomi’s president Lu Weibing said earlier that the company’s first EV had completed the summer tests, achieving better-than-expected progress. The initial mass production target remains unchanged for the first half of next year, Lu added, according to the Yicai Global report.
