This year marks the 90th anniversary of Xidian University, one of the oldest electronics universities and a major source of successful engineers and technology executives in China.  The university will organize a series of forums online and offline with JW Insights to celebrate its birthday in October.

Xidian University was first established in 1931 in Jiangxi, moved to Yan'an, and settled down in Xi'an in Western China after 1949. It is one of the first universities in China to establish majors in electronics, information theory, information system engineering, radar, microwave antenna, electronic machinery, and electronic countermeasures.

Among the well-known alumni from Xidian University are Lenovo founder Liu Chuanzhi, International GSM Award winner Li Mofang, European Academy of Sciences academician and nanotechnology expert Wang Zhonglin, and chief designer of Tiangong-1 Yang Hong. So far, Xidian University has established friendly relations with universities and research institutions in more than 70 countries and regions. It has set up joint laboratories with 46 multinational companies, including Infineon, Intel, IBM, and Hewlett-Packard.

The Xidian University Alumni Association of Microelectronics School will kick off six forums in mid-May in partnership with JW Insights, the largest online semiconductor and ICT media in China. There will be six sessions - one session per month - until the anniversary in October. The third session will be held offline during the JW Insights Summit at the Xidian University Alumni gathering. The forums will invite industry leaders and well-known scholars to share their advice and opinions on IC technologies and industry developments in China and the world, covering the third-generation semiconductor, IC design, semiconductor equipment, and EDA.
