(JW Insights) Jun 14 - Xidian University Guangzhou Institute of Technology (GIT广研院) and Beijing-based Atoman Semiconductor (埃特曼半导体) signed on June 9 an agreement to jointly build GaN Semiconductor Research Center, JW Insights learned.
Zhang Jincheng, vice president of Xidian University, a leading microelectronics university in western China’s Xi’an, said, “Top-quality devices require top-quality materials. Xidian has rich experience and talent advantages in GaN, and we believe the center can develop more high-quality materials.”
Based in Guangzhou City, GIT is jointly run by Xidian University and the government of Guangzhou City, focusing on integrated circuits, artificial intelligence, big data, 5G applications, the IoT, and network security.
Atoman focuses on building a high-quality platform integrating MBE equipment application, material production and technology R&D. Its team consists of many internationally renowned scientists in the semiconductor filed and more than 20 R&D personnel with doctorates.
The company has epiwafer production factories located in Beijing, Xiamen, Suzhou, and Finland, with a product range covering arsenic/phosphorus epi-wafers and nitride epi-wafers, according to its website.
