Professor Ning Cunzheng, one of the world's leading experts in nanolasers and inventor of the white light laser, now serves as the first dean of the College of Integrated Circuit and Photoelectric Chip in Shenzhen, JW Insights reported.
The college was founded in 2021 by Shenzhen Technology University(SZTU) and other enterprises as the first college dedicated to IC in south China's Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. It recently adopted its current name and will receive the first group of students in September.
This renaming procedure has also upgraded the college's status to a first-level academy of SZTU. It has a curriculum on microelectronics science and engineering, IC, and system design.

The new college will focus on cutting-edge science and technologies and the requirements of China's IC and photoelectric development.
It will work on the critical technologies and infrastructure engineering issues in materials, physics, device design, and processing techniques for the integration of optic electrics.
The college will also develop in-depth and practical partnerships with the relevant local industries to tackle talent shortages and the technological bottleneck constraints, it said.
