OmniVision Technologies launches a new CMOS image sensor project in Shanghai

Digital imaging company OmniVision Technologies(豪威科技) launched a CMOS image chip project in Songjiang District of Shanghai on June 16, according to information released by Songjiang District People’s Government.

The project includes the OmniVision Songjiang Park, the wafer optical filter, and microlens packaging lines. OmniVision will hire senior researchers and establish R&D and engineering teams in related technical fields to further enhance the company’s capabilities in wafer color filters and microlens technology. 

The construction period of the project will be 2 to 3 years. After being put into production, the project is expected to have an average annual sales income of over RMB400 million($59.8 million).

Founded in 1995, OmniVision Technologies is a leading developer of advanced digital imaging, analog, and touch & display solutions. Its products are widely used in mobile phones, security, automotive electronics, wearable devices, IoT, communications, computers, consumer electronics, industrial, medical and other fields.
