China has been actively promoting the standardization of fast-charging technology with the Chinese mobile phone manufacturers using a unified Type-C interface, according to a Shanghai Daily report on July 12.
China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) announced at the beginning of this year that it would continue to support the launch of national standards for charging interfaces to address the issue of incompatibility among various fast-charging protocols.
The standardization of fast-charging technology is conducive to reducing electronic waste and improving resource utilization efficiency.
Another CCTC report said that the Type-C charging interface now adopted by local Chinese manufacturers allows higher charging efficiency and gives customers a better charging experience than Apple’s Lightning and Micro USB interfaces. China may take the lead in unifying fast-charging standards.
On June 7, the Council of the EU and the European Parliament agreed on a mandatory USB-C charging port application and the same charging speed in the EU by 2024. The agreement applies to a wide range of electronic devices, including mobile phones, tablets, digital cameras, and other devices. It aims to allow users to use any charger that works with their devices and charge them at the same speed, making mobile device selection much easier and more convenient.
