China’s export of new energy vehicles in the first half of 2022 increased by 130% year-on-year, accounting for 16.6% of the total auto export, according to the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers(CAAM). Meanwhile, the country’s IC exports increased by 16.4% in the same period, announced the General Administration of Customs of China(CGAC)on July 13.
Li Kuiwen, CGAC spokesperson, said that China’s exports of electrical equipment, integrated circuits, automobiles, and other mechanical and electrical products increased by 24.8%, 16.4%, and 51.1%, respectively, in the first half of this year.
China’s production and sales of new energy vehicles reached 2.661 million and 2.6 million respectively in the first six months of 2022, a year-on-year increase of 1.2 times, with a market share of 21.6%.
Among them, the sales of new energy passenger vehicles accounted for 24% of the total sales of passenger vehicles, and the proportion of local Chinese brands has reached 39.8%, according to data from CAAM.
As of the end of June 2022, the new energy vehicles, including battery electric vehicles (BEVs), plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) and fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEV), in China hit a major milestone with their numbers exceeding 10 million, statistics released by China Ministry of Public Security on July 6 showed.
Chinese auto brands BYD and SAIC-Wuling surpassed Tesla in China and became the top two manufacturers on the best-selling list.
The EV sales of automakers like Chery, GAC Aion, and Geely in the first half of 2022 surpassed 100,000.
The cumulative sales of XPENG Motors in the first six months surpassed that of NIO with 68,983 total vehicles delivered, becoming the champion among three listed start-ups – XPENG Motors, NIO Inc., and Li Auto.(校对/WM Zhang)
