Kwaishou(快手), China's leading short video platform, announced its successful tapeout of a self-developed chip SL200 for cloud video processing on August 10 at the event for launching its new video cloud service StreamLake.
Yu Bing, senior vice president and head of StreamLake, said at the launch event “Kwaishou focuses on AI, audio and video services. The SL200 chip and solutions are made for live streaming and video on-demand. The chip is being tested in-house.”
“The chip will further enhance our technological strengths, and bring customers and enterprises greater benefits with lower computing costs,” Yu added.
Founded in 2011, Beijing-headquartered Kwaishou was listed on Hong Kong Exchanges last year. It reported an RMB81.1 billion ($12 billion) revenue for 2021, surging 37.9% year on year. Online marketing services are its largest source, reaching RMB42.7 billion ($6.32 billion). The company’s daily active users reached 323 million in the fourth quarter of last year, up 19.2%.
The newly established independent business unit StreamLake includes two core areas—Video and AI. It will provide video upgrade solutions covering the entire parts for enterprises, a sign the company is entering the B2B market.
