China's leading IDM Silan Microelectronics (士兰微) reported a net profit of RMB599 million ($87.3 million), up 39.12% over the previous year at its 2022 semi-annual report released on August 22. Its income was RMB4.185 billion ($609.95 million), increasing by 26.49% year on year.

The integrated circuits income was RMB1.353 billion ($197.2 million), a 20.80% increase over the last year.

The revenue of discrete device products reached RMB2.275 billion ($331.57 million), increasing by 33.13% over the last year. In addition to home appliance and industrial control markets, the discrete device and high-power modules have accelerated the entry into EV and new energy markets.

The Silan report showed that its main motor driver modules for EVs based on self-developed V-generation IGBT and FRD chips have been tested by many domestic customers with bulk orders coming in. The company is also stepping up the construction of automotive-grade PIM (Intelligent Power Module).

Leading domestic home appliance manufacturers used more than 35 million of Silan’s IPM modules in the first half of 2022, a 94% jump year on year. The company launched IPM solutions for driving the air-conditioning compressors in EVs, and has become the supplier to top domestic automotive air-conditioning compressor manufacturers.

Founded in 1997, Silan was headquartered in Hangzhou, eastern China's Zhejiang Province, and went listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange in 2003. It was one of the first IC companies listed in China.

Silan’s products cover many consumer electronics sectors with its technologies leading in many fields in China, including energy-saving power chips, MEMS sensors, LED lighting and screen display, high-voltage intelligent power module, third-generation power semiconductor devices, and digital audio and video, according to its official website.
