China’s mobile phone supplier Transsion Holdings (传音控股) announced a strategic partnership with Google on Android operating system, online advertising, and cloud services on December 5, JW Insights reported.

The two companies aim to accelerate developing more smartphone devices with mobile internet services for emerging markets.

Transsion, the parent company of the popular Chinese smartphone brands in Africa - Tecno, Infinix, and Itel - said that Google would help them build a ‘smart life ecological platform’ that will power ‘digital smart lifestyles’ and serve hundreds of millions of consumers in emerging markets and global mobile developers.

It will introduce Google Cloud’s advanced infrastructure, big data, AI, machine learning, and Media CDN technologies to improve user experience and build its own developer cloud platform.

Media CDN, a platform for delivering content, helps developers in Africa to maximize operational efficiency at the lowest cost, the Shenzhen-based firm added.

Moreover, Transsion will also use Google’s advertising tools to help transform its digital platform business, improve its advertising monetization, and use Google Cloud to enhance its operational capabilities.

Transsion’s main sales areas are in emerging markets in Africa, South Asia, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and South America.
