COSMX (珠海冠宇), a leading global maker of lithium-ion batteries, announced that it would become the designated supplier of low-voltage lithium batteries to Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) on December 14, JW Insights reported.

COSMX will develop and supply specific 12-volt lithium batteries. The products are expected to be mass produced from 2025, noting that the delivery times, volume, and price will be agreed later, the company said.

Meanwhile, COSMX pointed out that the cooperation marks its entry into the supply chain of JLR, which is beneficial to the business layout and sustainable development of the company. Since the project is scheduled for mass production in 2025, there will not have an impact on the sales target for 2022, said the JW Insights report.

In the first three quarters of 2022, COSMX achieved revenue of RMB8.34 billion ($1.2 billion), an increase of 8.94% year-on-year, said the report.

Established in 2007 and based in Zhuhai, southern China’s Guangdong Province, COSMX is a major supplier of consumer Li-ion batteries and has long served global clients in the field of PCs, notebooks, tablets, smartphones, smart wearables, power tools, drones, and other fields. It has three production bases in China and one in India, according to its website.
