A dedicated ocean-ship positioning and monitoring system based on BeiDou Navigation Satellite System has been developed, using leading Chinese Phytium CPU chip and home-grown operating system KylinOS, JW Insights reported on January 16.

The system was jointly developed by China Electronics Corporation(中国电子CEC) and China Communications Construction Company(中国交通建设集团CCCC). It has been certified by China National Accreditation Service for Conformity Assessment (CNAS).

The system supports the BeiDou-3 short message protocol, the first in the transportation industry to realize BeiDou Navigation Satellite System data packet encryption and data transmission link encryption.

Currently, the system has over 200,000 sets of BeiDou-supported devices connected, covering 53 countries and regions worldwide. It provides personnel safety protection for Chinese workers in 46 high-risk overseas countries.

The system was rated as a significant scientific and technological breakthrough in China's BeiDou Navigation-based systems.
