China’s prestigious University of Electronic Science and Technology of China(UESTC) established the School of Integrated Circuit Science and Engineering and held the inauguration ceremony on January 16 in Chengdu of southwestern China’s Sichuan Province, JW Insights learned.

The School of Integrated Circuit Science and Engineering (Exemplary School of Microelectronics) can be traced back to the Department of Radio Components, established in 1956, and the Institute of Microelectronics, established in 1986. UESTC was approved to build a national Exemplary School of Microelectronics in 2015.

The college has two undergraduate majors: microelectronics science and engineering, integrated circuit design, and integrated system, all of which have been selected as China’s national first-class undergraduate major construction sites. The IC design and integrated system has been selected into the “Excellent Engineer Education and Training Program” of China’s Ministry of Education. There are more than 1,500 undergraduates, and the rate of advanced studies for undergraduates has remained above 70%.

The school houses the National Key Laboratory of Electronic Thin Films and IC, and the National IC Industry-Education Integration Innovation Platform. Its research fields include microelectronics & nanoelectronics materials and devices, power semiconductors and integration technology, IC design and design automation, packaging and microsystem integration, according to UESTC.
