Chinese automaker Wuling Motors(五菱宏光) announced that its total sales in 2022 reached 1,600,007 vehicles, of which sales of new energy vehicles exceeded 600,000, a year-on-year increase of 33%, learned JW Insights from its official WeChat account on January 17.
Headquartered in Liuzhou of southern China’s Guangxi region, Wuling Motors is a well-known local car manufacturer and has a joint venture with SAIC and GM China named SGMW.
The total sales of Wuling GSEV numbered 1 million, ranking first in EV sales worldwide. It is the fastest car company in the world to achieve one million EV sales, said the firm.
It said that the MINIEV series led the EV sales numbering more than 550,000, ranking first in pure EV sales among Chinese brands for 28 consecutive months.
The firm exported a total of 193,579 cars in 2022, a year-on-year increase of 33%, with retail sales in its key overseas market, Mexico, increasing by 206% year-on-year.
