China Resources Microelectronics (CR Micro华润微电子), a subsidiary of China Resources, will bet on 8-inch wafers for wide-bandgap semiconductors, Chongqing Daily reported recently.
About 65,000 8-inch wafers roll off the production line in Chongqing Park of CR Micro in western China's Chongqing city every month, which are widely used in consumer electronics, industrial control, automotive electronics, and other fields.
CR Micro acquired AVIC (Chongqing) Microelectronics in 2017. When it first took over the company, CR Micro Chongqing Park’s products were mainly concentrated in the consumer electronics market. In 2022, the share of industrial control products has exceeded 40%, which is expected to exceed 50% in 2023.
The company’s 12-inch wafer foundry production line and advanced power packaging and testing base in Chongqing were completed on December 29, 2022, further increasing its capacity, said Chongqing Daily.
CR Micro Chongqing's 12-inch wafer production line has a monthly production capacity of 30,000-35,000 pieces of wafers. It supports 12-inch epitaxy and wafer process capabilities, helping it to build a leading automotive power semiconductor player.
The advanced power packaging and testing base includes multiple packaging and testing production lines at the module, wafer, frame, and panel levels.
