(JW Insights) Feb 23 -- Chinese artificial intelligence pioneer iFlytek is developing its ChatGPT-related technology and aims to support more export-oriented Chinese EV cars with its multi-language voice products.

In response to the widespread attention on ChatGPT in China’s technology communities, iFlytek said that it is also developing a ChatGPT-related technology, but it will be used first in its own products, such as learning devices. It also reveals that it will hold a product launch event in May, reported China Daily on February 22.

Established in 1999 and listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange in 2008, iFlytek has pioneered speech recognition and AI in China. It offers voice recognition and automatic translation services. Last December the company said it has prioritized to develop a generative AI pre-training large-scale model.

iFlytek chairman Liu Qingfeng said in a recent conference that AI innovation and services will be in wider use in the automotive, medical, and education industries.

New energy vehicles have been iFlytek’s new target in recent years. One out of every two new energy vehicles sold in the Chinese market is equipped with its technology, it said.

China has now become the world's largest new energy vehicle market, and the total volume of vehicle exports continues to grow. iFlytek will help Chinese cars go overseas with its world-leading multilingual technology, said the company.

Data from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers show that China’s auto exports numbered 3.111 million in 2022, a year-on-year increase of 54.4%. Among them, 679,000 new energy vehicles were exported, a year-on-year increase of 1.2 times.

Powered by AI techs, iFlytek's net profit will grow more than 30% annually beginning 2023, Liu said.
