(JW Insights) Mar 14 -- Chinese EV giant BYD entered into a deal with UK-based Octopus Electric Vehicles on March 10 to supply 5,000 electric vehicles over the next three years, according to a statement posted on BYD's Weibo account on March 13.
The initial order will include the BYD ATTO 3, an all-electric SUV, making its debut in the UK recently, said BYD.
Launched in 2017 and headquartered in London, Octopus Electric Vehicles mainly offers EV rental and charging pile installation services. The company is backed by the UK-based Octopus Energy Group, one of the largest renewable energy investment agencies in Europe.
In addition, BYD posted its February NEVs sales at 193,655 units, up 119% from 88,300 units in the same period last year. Its cumulative shipments this year were 344,996 units, a year-on-year increase of 90.13%, according to the JW Insights report.
