(JW Insights) Mar 28 -- Bosch Powertrain Solutions China signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Wuxi National High-tech Industrial Development Zone Administrative Committee on March 25. The two parties aim to accelerate the localization and commercialization of hydrogen fuel cells for new energy vehicles (NEVs) and commercial vehicle electrification, according to the local government of Wuxi, eastern China’s Jiangsu Province.
Bosch Group and Wuxi will introduce more products of hydrogen fuel cell core components and other NEVs related products in Wuxi. It is expected that Wuxi will build an RMB200 billion($29 billion) new energy industry cluster and an RMB300 billion($43.6 billion) automobile supply chain cluster.
Since Bosch Group joined hands with WEIFU Group(无锡威孚), a Chinese automotive component manufacturer, in 2004, it has successively established businesses such as powertrain, automotive systems, and joint automotive electronics in Wuxi. The German tech giant also launched the hydrogen fuel cell center and the innovation and software development center in Wuxi.
Bosch inaugurated its first fuel cell center in Wuxi in early 2021. In 2023, Bosch launched the first production line of high-volume membrane electrode assembly in Wuxi. Additionally, Bosch’s flat-wire motors for light electric vehicles will be mass-produced in June this year, and the mass production of medium and heavy-duty motors and controllers is expected to start in 2024, according to the company.
