(JW Insights) Apr 7 -- China's National Integrated Circuit Standardization Technical Committee (NICSTC) was officially established in Beijing on April 6, the committee announced after its first plenary meeting.

The NICSTC aims to accelerate IC standard system development and support the growth of the industry. It will conduct formulation and revision work on national standards, focusing on IC design, production, and application.

The NICSTC comprises 57 members from top universities like Tsinghua University and Peking University, IC giants such as Huawei and SMIC, as well as scientific research institutions, industry associations, and downstream users, according to an announcement by State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) on November 31, 2022.

Meanwhile, the committee will speed up the construction of an IC standard system that is up-to-date and aligned with industry demands. It seeks to improve communication among the upstream, midstream, and downstream sectors of the industrial chain, enabling enterprises to participate fully in formulating international standards. The committee will also promote the implementation and application of standards across industries.

The NICSTC obtained establishment approval from China's SAMR (Standardization Committee) in November 2022, according to its website.
