(JW Insights) Apr 26 -- Beijing Municipal Intellectual Property Office (BJIPO) revealed that the city has promoted the establishment of an integrated circuit (IC) patent pool, with an accumulation of nearly 22,000 IC patents.
The update was shared by Pan Xinsheng, deputy director and spokesperson of BJIPO, during a press conference on IP protection in 2022 on April 24.
Pan noted that the city's patent authorization totaled 203,000 in 2022. Among them, invention patents reached 88,000 last year. As of December 2022, Beijing ranked first in the country with 218.3 invention patents per 10,000 people. Meanwhile, the city had 11,000 PCT (Patent Cooperation Treaty) applications and 387,000 trademark registrations.
Beijing also takes the lead in China by having established five industrial IP operation centers and promoted the development of national patent navigation service bases and agencies. The city's efforts have resulted in two protection centers being approved as national patent navigation service bases, and six enterprises and institutions being recognized as national patent navigation engineering support service agencies, Pan added.
