(JW Insights) May 6 -- The award ceremony for China’s highest prize in AI science and technology, the “Wu Wen Jun AI Science & Technology Award“, was held in Beijing on May 6. A total of 60 awarded projects and individuals were recognized and rewarded, reported Pandaily.
Among them, Zheng Nanning, former president of Xi’an Jiaotong University and academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, was awarded the 2022 “Wu Wen Jun AI Highest Achievement Award”, received an honorary medal and prize money.
Guo Yike, Vice President and Provost of The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), Huang Tiejun, Director of Beijing Zhiiyuan Artificial Intelligence Research Institute and Professor at Peking University’s School of Computer Science. He Xiaodong, Vice President of JD, were awarded the ‘Wu Wen Jun AI Outstanding Contribution Award’.
Professor Tao Jianhua’s team from Tsinghua University and Chief Technology Officer Wang Haifeng’s team from Baidu, respectively won the first “Wu Wen Jun AI Technology Invention Award” and the “Wu Wen Jun AI Science and Technology Progress Award”.
The “Wu Wen Jun AI Science & Technology Award” was initiated and hosted by the Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence (CAAI), with the support of Wu Wenjun, a pioneer and leader in intelligent science research in China, the first recipient of China’s highest national science and technology award, and an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. It was officially established on January 6, 2011 and is known as the “highest award for AI science and technology in China”, according to the report from Pandaily.
