(JW Insights)May 11--Rockchip(瑞芯微), a listed Chinese IC design company, and software service provider Farben(法本信息) announced recently to jointly launch a SoC-based intelligent cockpit solution in China.

Based on Rockchip’s newest intelligent cockpit flagship chip RK3588M and Farben’s in-house cockpit software platform FarCarOS, the two parties will leverage their respective advantages in technology, business, and industry resource offer a high-performance intelligent cockpit solution for passenger cars and high-end commercial vehicles.

The cockpit solution supports multiple cameras and screens, with a CPU computing power of over 90KDMIPS. It integrates many advanced technologies in the industry. With the support of 4-core GPU and NPU with a computing performance of 6TOPS, it offers functions in daily navigation, music, entertainment, and voice interactions. It also supports AI and innovative functions such as 360-degree panoramic view, DMS eye-tracking, health monitoring, and cloud gaming, said the two companies.

Rockchip RK3588M is an automotive-grade variant of the Rockchip RK3588 octa-core Cortex-A76/A55 SoC that supports at least 6 Full HD displays and 16 camera inputs, and can simultaneously run the car dashboard, in-vehicle infotainment, a digital rearview mirror, headrest monitors, ADAS system, and more.

This cooperation between Rockchip and Farben will provide OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers with a cost-effective intelligent cockpit solution.

Founded in 2001 and listed on Shanghai Stock Exchange in 2020, Rockchip is headquartered in Fuzhou, southeastern China’s Fujian Province. It specializes in developing and supplying system-on-chip (SoC) products for tablets, PCs, streaming media TV boxes, IoT devices, and other consumer electronics, intelligent hardware, and computer vision sectors.
