(JW Insights) Jun 12 -- Chinese printer supplier Ninestar (纳思达) and its eight subsidiaries were added to the UFLPA (Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act) entity list by the US Department of Homeland Security, effective June 12, the company said in a statement.
In its open statement on June 11, Ninestar stated that it has been strictly abiding by the laws and regulations applicable to business development, following international labor protection standards, and fully protecting workers' legitimate rights. It will continue to provide all employees with an equal, friendly, and positive working atmosphere and career development opportunities. And it is assessing the potential impacts and make better arrangement to cope with them.
Founded in 2000 and listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange in 2014, Ninestar is based in Zhuhai, southern China’s Guangdong Province. It’s the world's fourth largest laser printer manufacturer, with an annual revenue of more than RMB20 billion ($2.80 billion), according to its website.
One of its subsidiaries on the list is Geehy Semiconductor (极海半导体), an IC design company that specializes in industrial and automotive grade microprocessors, mixed-signal analog ICs, and SoCs. Its expected annual revenue in 2022 was RMB1.9 billion ($265.93 million), with about RMB1.3 billion ($181.95 million) from consumable printer chips.
