(JW Insights) Jun 20 -- Chinese chip startup Advanced Technology Stellar (中天恒星ATS) unveiled its self-developed architecture for graphics processing units, or GPU on June 15, which are crucial to the development of generative AI technologies like OpenAI's ChatGPT and similar products, learned JW Insights.
The move signifies that the Chinese chip industry is accelerating efforts to achieve breakthroughs after the US government restricted the export of high-end AI chips to China, said China Daily on June 15.
Advanced Technology Stellar said it has full intellectual property rights to the GPU architecture and complete delivery capabilities. The company is scheduled to unveil its second-generation GPU architecture in 2025.
Founded in 2019 and based in Shanghai, ATS focuses on R&D of core graphics architecture GPUs, provides chip products and solutions, and aims to be a world-class professional chip company, said its website.
